Bruneaux Restaurant, a new fine-dining establishment designed by award-winning architectural firm Studio St.Germain, will open on September 30, 2016, on the site of the former Sewickley Café on Beaver Street. Bruneaux will feature an American menu with strong French influences.

The restaurant is the third commercial project in Sewickley for the boutique firm Studio St.Germain, which specializes in high-performance/low-energy design and building science. It follows the much-acclaimed renovations of business development organization Explore Sewickley and retailer J.McLaughlin.

Building owner Robin Fernandez asked the Studio to create an efficient, modern design that incorporates design themes related to the restaurant concept. Architectural and design highlights of the new restaurant include:

• A custom-designed storefront and entry vestibule that provides environmental comfort as well as efficient temperature control and energy usage.

• Large-scale vintage-style Paris map welcomes diners and sets the tone in the vestibule.

• Seguro pendant lights from LBL Lighting set a sophisticated mood while conserving energy with low-voltage.

• 46-foot-long custom-tufted Parisian-style banquette by Gene Sanes and Associates creates a welcoming, cozy atmosphere for groups of any size.

• Clustered decorative pendants from LBL Lighting over the Parisian banquette create flexible lighting to allow for multiple table configurations and varying group sizes.

• Eldorado Stone European Ledge stone (from the new "Eldorado Modern Collection") offers a natural, distinctive look on the walls behind the banquette and bar.

• Complementing the walls, an elegant smooth-faced stone veneer highlights the front of the bar. http://www.oldworldflagstone.com/prowf_veneer_metrofit.php

• A private VIP chef's table offers privacy and an up-close-and-personal view into the open kitchen so diners can interact with the chef.

• Custom, state-of-the art bar and open kitchen designed by Food Facilities Concepts in collaboration with Studio St.Germain.

• Nailhead trim on both the upholstered Swedish blue bar stools and the floral-motif dining chairs unify seating design.

• Wide-plank pine floors in vestibule and dining room are stained a contemporary grey to pull the entire space together.

• The new, enlarged outdoor patio features a radiant-heated slab for three-season dining. Ledgestone stacked stone walls surrounding the patio and a Ledgestone stacked-stone wood-burning fireplace at the rear create a cozy and comfortable outdoor ambiance.

Principal Architect Nathan St.Germain states, “With the renovation of Bruneaux, our goal was to transform the building with a design that reflected the owner’s vision while creating a comfortable, beautiful environment for diners. We wanted to bring new life to the space while incorporating energy efficiency into the design. With the completion of our third project in Sewickley, we’re delighted to be contributing to the ongoing revitalization of our own community.”
